This workshop will examine metrics for data quality. Of equal interest is the identification of procedures that can be used to manipulate the data in compliance with assertions made about format, geometry, coordinate system, transformations, semantics.

A worldwide interaction of various data practitioners from the US, EU, Australia and other areas has been started to harmonize data access and interoperability solutions. The interactions also includes stakeholders such as NSF, the EC and other research agencies. Two acronyms have been used for this broad bottom-up organized process: DAITF (Data Access and Interoperability Task Force) and DWF (Data Web Forum) both referring to the same intentions - yet it is not clear what name finally will be used…

At the CASC fall meeting, a presentation will be given on use of policy-based data management systems to implement a CASC (Coalition for Advanced Scientific Computation) digital library, a CASC archive, and a CASC collaboration hub.
